MY PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY
Design
In one of my more serious articles (my contribution to "They Didn't Ask for Fentanyl"), I showed the facts behind one of America's most serious current problems: fentanyl and drug poisoning. Through these graphs and charts, I was able to demonstrate stories without using any words and show how serious this issue has gotten in the past few years.
I made this map for the package "More than a Fetus" on Scot Scoop. It shows how states would react to an overturning of Roe v. Wade.
I made these charts for the package "More than a Fetus" on Scot Scoop. The pie chart shows which income level is most likely to get an abortion. The graph shows how the number of abortion deaths has decreased since Roe v. Wade.
This was the first of the multimedia pieces I made for my feature on the James Webb Space Telescope. NASA originally created the model, but due to its complex nature, I had to reformat it and compress it in 3D software, as well as make it more easily embeddable in our webpage.
This was the second of the multimedia pieces I made for my feature on the James Webb Space Telescope. It displays the differences between the Hubble and James Webb Telescopes.
This was the third of the multimedia pieces I made for my feature on the James Webb Space Telescope. It displays the NASA budget.
This was the first of the multimedia pieces I made for the Iran Protest Package. It displays the amount of incidents in Iran compared to the fatalities.
This was the second of the multimedia pieces I made for the Iran Protest Package and the most complex to date. It displays the amount of incidents in Iran, the fatalities, and their type. It also displays exactly where the incidents happened: there were around 100,000 individuals cells of data in this map.
Design for Highlander Magazine
In my first spread for The Highlander, I chose to highlight an issue important to every teenager: driver's education and getting a license. I was able to express this by designing and implementing a road-like style, experimenting with new software such as Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
In my second spread for The Highlander, I chose to highlight the importance of the continuation of masks as a means to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. In doing so, I was able to explore a new method of design by using Adobe Photoshop and creating colorful silhouettes.
In my third spread for The Highlander, I chose to highlight the student body; more specifically, I wrote about students' summer plans and where they were planning on traveling. I was able to express this artistically through a postcard design and implemented a vintage-look to emphasize the travels.
